Russey Keo Concrete Bridge Temporarily Opened for Khmer New Year

PHNOM PENH: The Russey Keo concrete bridge will be temporarily opened to all vehicles from Monday morning, 10 April 2023, to facilitate people's travel during the Khmer New Year.

Prime Minister Hun Sen has allowed the Phnom Penh Capital Administration to temporarily open use of the Russey Keo Concrete Bridge from 10 April. At the same time, the closure of the Bailey bridge, parallel to the Russey Keo cable-stayed concrete bridge, was also announced.

According to the Phnom Penh Capital Administration, the Russey Keo concrete bridge is almost complete and there is only a small amount of work left that will not affect temporary flow of traffic.

The Russey Keo concrete bridge is being temporarily opened to facilitate the flow of traffic and travel of people during the Khmer New Year, in order to help decrease traffic congestion.

The Russey Keo concrete bridge, constructed by the Overseas Cambodia Investment Corporation (OCIC), is built across the Tonle Sap River in Chroy Changvar and Russey Keo districts of Phnom Penh. The bridge originally had its groundbreaking in October 2017 under the presidency of Prime Minister Hun Sen.
